Subcutaneous Fat Necrosis
- subq nodule, hard, nonpitting, sharply circumcribed, may be red/purple
- thought to be caused by trauma, cold, asphyxia
- appears during 1st weeks of life, enlargens over several days, resolves
over several weeks
- may be more than one, if so, hypercalcemia may occur... monitor serum Ca,
may need intervention
- usually no tx necessary... correct underlying ie hypoglycemia, asphyxia
