Aortic Stenosis
- Mild: asymptomatic
- Moderate: exercise intolerance
- Severe: syncope, exertional chest pain, sudden death
- Infants with critical AS present with shock/CHF
- SEM at URSB, transmits to neck and apex +/-ejection click
- Narrow or paradoxically split S2 in severe AS
- EKG: may show LVH in severe cases
- CXR: prominent aortic knob
- SBE prophylaxis is indicated
- If suspect aortic
stenosis,
restrict from competitive sports until cardiac evaluation complete.
- HCMP may present with similar findings
